Venicile Vyapari (The Merchant of Venice) is a Malayalam film starring Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan and Poonam Bajwa. Directed by Shafi, the film's plot unfolds in Alappuzha, a town in Kerala popularly known as the Venice of the East. The story follows a murder mystery. Mammootty plays the protagonist, Pavithran, a businessman - turned - police constable who served in the force in the eighties.
